American Peter Walsh is a professional organiser and author of countless books on how to make your life simpler. He says he has been involved in too many moves where basic rules were not followed. <\/p>

Here are ten principles and details that Walsh says you should remember. Take a closer look and you might find a few tips you can use the next time you move. The average European moves four times in their lifetime, and the better prepared you are, the better your move will go. <\/p>

As the move approaches<\/p>

1. If you want to succeed, make a good plan.
2. Take notes.
3. Items you no longer use can be thrown away for recycling or stored in a self storage.<\/p>

Packaging<\/p>

4. Keep a record of what you pack and where you pack it. On your moving boxes, mark which room they belong in in your new home.
5. Take pictures of electrical wiring, extension cords and connectors. This will help you remember which parts fit together when you reassemble them. <\/p>
