Information on storage facilities

Is storage safe?

Yes. All Pelican locations have video surveillance, alarms and access control. Access to the area requires a personal code or access key. Staff are on site from 10.00-18.00 on weekdays and from 10.00-14.00 on Saturdays. Our Turku office is open on weekdays from 10.00-17.00.

Are the storage rooms damp and cold?

No. When you rent a storage space from Pelican, you don't have to worry about damp or cold in your storage room. All of our storage facilities have heating and a modern ventilation system to ensure that the humidity in your storage remains normal.

Is there enough space in the units?

Yes. We have units of different sizes from 0.75 to 50m2 and can choose the size that best suits your needs. Our unit have a minimum height of 2.6 metres. If you need more space upwards, we also have higher storage facilities. Contact us on 0207 007 700 to find out more about your options.

Can I resize my storage?

Yes, and it is free. If you suddenly need less or more space, we can quickly help you. We can offer you either a smaller or larger storage or a complete additional unit, depending on what works best for you.

When can I visit my storage?

You can easily visit your storage every day from 5.30 to 22.00. If you need help, our customer service is open in the Helsinki metropolitan area on weekdays 10-18 and on Saturdays 10-14.Our Turku office is open on weekdays 10.00-17.00

How much space do I need?

Special storage rooms

What is a drive-up unit?

You can drive your car or van directly to the door of the storage unit, making loading and unloading quick and easy. All drive-up units are in a controlled area, accessible only with your personal access code or access key.

Other facilities

Some of our properties also have spaces that have not been built for storage purposes. These facilities range in size from a few square metres to up to 1,000 square metres and are generally 100% rented. They are used for production, office, sales and also for storage purposes. Does Pelican rent parking spaces?

Yes, some of our sites offer indoor and outdoor parking spaces for a monthly rental. Call 0207 007 700 to find out more.

Booking

How do I reserve a unit?

You can reserve your storage online from our homepage, and you can have your space available within ten minutes. You will receive a confirmation directly by email. Or you can contact any of our offices, or send a preliminary booking request via our website. This will give you an advance look at the storage you are renting.

Is the booking request binding?

No, the initial booking request is not binding and free of charge. Payment is only made once the contract has been concluded at the office or electronically.

Do I have to commit to the storage for a long period of time?

No. At Pelican, you can terminate your contract to the end of the same month by notifying us no later than the 15th of the same month, unless otherwise agreed.

What information do you need when I rent a storage from Pelican?

For security reasons, we will check your ID and social security number. If you do not have a Finnish identity card, we will need your passport number.

Bringing goods into the storage

Does Pelican offer a moving service?

Do you rent trailers?

Yes. If you want to move your own stuff into the storage, you can reserve a Pelican trailer for free. For more information, click here.

Can you provide moving boxes and packing materials?

Yes, you can get moving boxes and other packing materials from Pelican. Come and see our comprehensive range at any of our stores or check out the products here.

Fees

What will I be charged?

If you are using Pelican's services for the first time, you will be charged a €20 start-up fee and a €19 for the cyllinder lock. If you have been our customer before, you will not be charged an initial fee. You can also reuse an existing lock, so you don't have to buy a new one.

Can I use my own lock in my storage unit?

Pelican uses special locks on its warehouse doors to ensure the security of storage. If you have used Pelican's services before and have a Pelican lock, you can use the same lock again. If you don't have a lock, you can buy one from our store.

What payment methods do you use?

You can pay with the most common domestic and foreign debit and credit cards, as well as cash. When you sign a contract at our office, the first invoice is always paid on the spot. In the future, you will receive your invoice by email.

What happens if my payments are late?

We will send you a friendly reminder. If you do not respond to the reminders sent, you risk incurring additional charges. If you persistently ignore reminders, we will have to deny you access to our storage facilities.

Safety and insurance

Is insurance compulsory?

Yes. Pelican requires that your storage is insured. The cost of insurance is determined by the size of the storage unit and the total value of the contents you are storing. The cost of the insurance is not included in the quote or the monthly storage rental shown on the page.

How does Pelican insurance work?

In the event of an accident, contact the site staff immediately. They will help you through the insurance process so that you can be reimbursed as quickly as possible.

Storage solutions for businesses

Does Pelican have a recycling point for packaging materials and cardboard?

Yes. Pelican can help you get rid of packaging plastic and cardboard waste. Most of our locations have waste bins, so you don't have to spend time or money disposing of waste elsewhere. Please contact us on 0207 007 700 for more information on the locations where customer waste disposal is available.

Can you receive my deliveries when I am not here?

Yes. Our staff can receive your parcels on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During this time, we can receive your parcels and store them in our receiving warehouse until you can come and move them to your own warehouse. You will receive a text message from us when we have received your parcel.

Can I borrow a trolley?

Yes. All our branches have trolleys, pump trolleys, pallet trucks and ladders for moving goods, which you can borrow free of charge at our premises.

Is there electricity and lights in the warehouse?

Some of the units have lighting, but we cannot provide electricity for safety reasons.

Can I park my car in front of my storage?

Yes. If you have a drive-up unit, you can park your car directly in front of it. In some locations it is possible to drive your car into the indoor loading area. Parking at the service locations is free during your visit.

Can my company operate in a Pelican storage room?

Yes, it is possible. We have several customers who actively use storage facilities to run their business. Most of our locations have a workstation and free Wi-Fi for business customers. In addition, we always offer coffee.

Do you serve coffee?

Yes. You will always get free coffee or tea in our shop. Welcome!

What happens if I lose my storage key?

When you buy a lock from Pelican, you get a lock set with keys. If the keys get lost, we can drill the lock open for a separate fee.

How do I end my storaging?

If you want to terminate your contract, please contact the staff at the office. You can find the contact details of the offices here. You must give notice by the 15th of the month if you wish to terminate your contract by the end of that month.

Is parking free?

Yes. You can park for free in the car parks of our offices during your visit. If you are interested in renting a parking space for a longer period, please contact our staff or read more here.

Is there something I can't keep in Pelican storage?

You cannot store flammable substances, explosives, liquids, food or anything illegal in the warehouse. We have plenty of room for everything else. See the general conditions for more information.
