In addition, packing supplies such as bubble wrap and packing tape make packing easier and keep your property safe during the move.
Make the moving experience smooth by preparing
Regardless of whether you are moving to another city or abroad, moving requires both focus and energy. Do yourself a favor by making a plan before the move. Packing moving boxes is easier said than done. That’s why we want to share a few important tips:
- Clean your items before you start packing them.
- Categorize the moving boxes and label them clearly, for example with a marker.
- Wrap fragile items, such as glass and porcelain dishes, in bubble wrap or tissue paper, and place them vertically in the moving box.
- Use high-quality moving boxes, especially if they are intended to be stored for a longer period.
- Do not pack too much weight in the boxes. Rather, distribute the weight into several smaller boxes.
Also, always remember to pack and protect furniture, rugs, mattresses, and textiles in protective plastic to avoid them getting dirty and to ensure they stay in good condition during storage.
Packing tips from the experts
Packing is the most important component of a successful move, as it creates the foundation for fast and easy transport and unpacking. Therefore, it is important to reserve plenty of time for packing and keep packing materials close at hand. The guideline from moving companies is that one box corresponds to one square meter of the apartment’s size. For example, to pack a 30m² apartment, you need 30 moving boxes. This benchmark is a good starting point, although it naturally varies according to the rooms, family members, and the amount of goods to be packed.
