- Clean your items before you start packing them.
- Categorize the moving boxes and label them clearly, for example with a marker.
- Wrap fragile items, such as glass and porcelain dishes, in bubble wrap or tissue paper, and place them vertically in the moving box.
- Use high-quality moving boxes, especially if they are intended to be stored for a longer period.
- Do not pack too much weight into the boxes. Rather, distribute the weight into several smaller boxes.
Additionally, always remember to pack and protect furniture, rugs, mattresses, and textiles in protective plastics to avoid them getting dirty and to ensure they stay in good condition during storage.

Therefore, it is important to reserve plenty of time for packing and keep packing materials close at hand. The guideline from moving companies is that one box corresponds to one square meter of the apartment or space size. For example, to pack a 30 m² apartment or space, you need 30 moving boxes. This benchmark is a good starting point, although it naturally varies according to the rooms and the amount of items to be packed.
