Instructions for Pelican Herttoniemi
On this page, you will find instructions for arriving at the Pelican Herttoniemi location, parking, and setting up your storage unit. Access is conveniently managed via the Pelican Smart Access app.
1. Arrival at the location
Welcome to Pelican Herttoniemi!
The address of the location is Hitsaajankatu 8, Helsinki.
Our customer service is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00. From our store, you can purchase moving and packing supplies such as moving boxes, mattress covers, packing tapes, etc. Welcome to visit us!
Once you have signed a rental agreement for a storage unit at Pelican Herttoniemi, you have access to your unit every day of the year from 05:30 to 22:00.
Pelican Smart Access app
To access your storage unit, you must set up the Pelican Smart Access app. We have sent you a text message to help you set up the app. The message contains a link to the app itself and a code to activate it. Instructions for using the app can be found here:

2. Loading area and trolleys
You can drive your car/trailer directly into the loading area, where you will be protected from the weather. The loading area can accommodate 4 cars at a time. Please keep this in mind when parking. When you are finished, please move your car to the street to make room for the next person.
In the loading area, you can borrow hand trucks, pallet jacks, and trolleys for transporting your belongings. The trolleys are not locked, and we ask that you return them to their place after use. Trolleys must not be left in your own storage unit or taken away.
The customer toilet is located on the 2nd floor, which is accessed from the outside first through door 1 or 2
and then through the green overhead door number 3.
3. Opening hours and access to storage
You have access to your storage space every day of the year from 05:30 to 22:00, starting from the start date of your contract.
At the left end of the loading area, you will find an elevator that provides access to the storage units located on floors 3–7. You can check your floor from your storage unit number: it is the first digit of the four-digit unit number.
At the right end of the loading area, you will find an overhead door, behind which you will find two more elevators. On this side, there is also a goods lift available for you to lift your belongings and trolleys up to the platform.
Note: all storage units starting with 1 (1100-, 1200-, and 1300-) are located in the lower yard in the basement behind the outer gates.
Entry to the area is from the right side of the building (gate 1) and exit is from the other side of the building
(gate 2).
The lift is operated by buttons marked with up and down arrows. Note! Standing on the lift while it is moving is prohibited.
If your storage unit number starts with the number 2, it is on the same floor as these elevators. The elevators provide access to floors 3-7. You will also find a toilet on this floor.
4. At the storage unit
When you arrive at the correct floor, there are storage unit numbers and arrows in front of the elevator indicating which direction you need to go to find your unit.
Once you have found your rented space, please double-check that you are indeed taking the correct unit into use. The unit number is located outside the door.
Open the door by pulling the latch open. This unlocks it and the door can be opened.
On the floor of the storage unit, there is a safety-approved cylinder lock and two keys. Note: Pelican does not have spare keys for your lock.
The space is now ready for use.
5. Opening and locking the door
Closing the door:
Push the door closed and slide the metal latch into place so that the door locks. (For overhead doors, pull the door down and ensure it is fully down so you can slide the latch into place.)
Ensure that the tab of the cylinder lock is aligned with the lock. (See image 2: The dots on the lock are opposite each other) Insert the lock into the lock housing and turn the key counter-clockwise. Remove the key and the lock should stay in place. Double-check that the door does not open.
Opening the door:
Turn the key to the right and pull the cylinder lock out of its housing. Move the metal latch, and you can now open the door.
Garage units:
Inside the unit, there are two (2) keys and illustrated instructions for opening and closing the door. When you first arrive at the unit, the door is unlocked and opens by lifting.
