Pelican Varisto Instructions
On this page you will find instructions for arriving at the Pelican Varisto facility, parking, and accessing your storage unit. Access is conveniently managed through the Pelican Smart Access app.
1. Arriving at the Facility
Welcome to Pelican Self Storage Varisto! The facility address is Martinkyläntie 57, Vantaa.
While our customer service is open (weekdays 10 AM–6 PM and Saturdays 10 AM–2 PM), the yard gate is open. If you arrive while customer service is closed, the yard gate will be closed.
In our store, you can purchase moving and packing supplies such as moving boxes, mattress covers, packing tape, and more. Come and take a look!
You can open the gate using the Pelican Smart Access app.
Please note! Traffic in the yard area is one-way, counterclockwise.
2. Loading Area/Entrance
Your storage unit is located in the main building at the back of the yard. The covered loading area is on the left side of the store.
Drive-up storage units are located in the yard area. You will find instructions for opening and closing your drive-up storage unit door in your email.
Please note that parking in the loading area is only permitted while loading or unloading. Once you are finished, kindly move your car to the designated parking spaces.
Please note that traffic in the yard is one-way, counterclockwise.
3. Opening Hours and the Pelican Smart Access App
You have access to your storage unit every day of the year from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM, starting from the start date of your agreement.
To access your storage unit, you need to activate the Pelican Smart Access app. We have sent you a text message to help you set up the app. The message includes a link to the app itself and a code you can use to activate it. You can find instructions for using the app here:

4. Carts in the Loading Area
You can borrow hand trucks, pump trucks, and utility carts from the loading area to help transport your belongings. The carts are not locked, and we kindly ask that you return them to their place after use. Carts may not be left in your storage unit or taken off-site.
5. Finding Your Storage Unit
The elevators are located in the lobby right after the loading area doors. The first number of your storage unit indicates which floor your rented unit is on. (For example, 3123 is located on the third floor.)
Once you reach the correct floor, you will find storage unit numbers and arrows in front of the elevator indicating which direction to go to find your unit.
6. Using Your Storage Unit
Once you have found your rented unit, please double-check that you are about to access the correct unit. The storage unit number is on the outside of the door.
Open the door by pulling the latch open. This releases the lock and allows the door to be opened.
On the floor of the storage unit, you will find a safety-approved cylinder lock with keys. Please note: Pelican does not keep spare keys for your lock.
Your unit is now ready for use.
7. How to Open and Lock Your Storage Unit Door
Closing the door:
Push the door shut and move the metal latch into place so that the door locks. (For roll-up doors, pull the door all the way down and make sure it is fully closed so that you can move the latch into place.)
Make sure the cylinder lock’s tab is aligned with the lock. (See image 2: the dots on the lock facing each other) Insert the lock into the lock housing and turn the key counterclockwise. Remove the key and the lock should stay in place. Double-check that the door does not open.
Opening the door:
Turn the key to the right and pull the cylinder lock out of its housing. Move the metal latch aside, and you can now open the door.
Drive-up storage units:
Inside the unit, you will find two (2) iLOQ keys and an illustrated guide for opening and closing the door. The first time you arrive at your unit, the door will be unlocked and can be opened by lifting it.
